Committee
Pre-School Committee
Marshfield Pre-school and Holiday Club are run by a committee made up of parent/carer volunteers who give up their time and energy to support our fantastic village pre-school and holiday club. Without them we would not be able to run.
We very much depend on the involvement of parents and carers either by joining the committee or by helping out occasionally. Each member of the committee will bring different skills and experience which are invaluable to the successful running of pre-school.
The pre-school session manager and staff work very closely with the committee to make sure that everything is running smoothly and in line with all the general requirements that must be met. Meetings are held every 6-8 weeks where any current issues are discussed, an update on the current financial position is given and plans are made for any fundraising events.
Being a committee member can be a very rewarding role and can give a real insight into the way pre-school and holiday club are run and a great opportunity to meet other parents, get to know the staff and be part of a team whose aim is to create an environment in which every child can thrive.

Committee Roles
Chairperson
The Chairperson is the main point of contact for committee members, staff and external parties but their main role is to support the session and office managers, with whom they form a close relationship. The role is very varied, offering an opportunity to get involved in everything from staff recruitment and appraisals to policy development and fundraising projects.
At committee meetings the Chairperson is responsible for setting the agenda and co-ordinating roles in any plans that are made. It is not necessary to have any experience to become a Chairperson, and there are always plenty of existing/former committee members and staff on hand if you have any questions.
Treasurer
The Treasurer oversees the pre-school finances and works very closely with the Office Manager to ensure the finances are where they should be. Financial reports are prepared for each committee meeting.
Secretary
The Secretary is responsible for taking the minutes at the committee meetings, distributing the minutes and passing on any relevant information to committee members.
General Committee Members
As well as the three main roles we have general committee members who provide general help and help with fundraising.
Annual General Meeting
An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held in October each year when new committee members are elected. Members usually stay on the committee for a minimum of a year although many people stay on for longer. At our AGM we ask for volunteers for any vacancies we may have. The committee requires a minimum of 5 members.
If you are interested in finding out more about the role of the Pre-school Committee or are interested in joining the Committee, please speak to a current committee member or a member of staff.
